About: James Hurley
Growing up in large churches, James has been around audio at the highest scales from a very young age. At just 12 years old, James began working with large audio rigs and by age 14 was responsible for all the audio at his church of 2,000 regular attendees. When he was 22, James moved to Sydney, Australia and was mentored by some of the best audio and mix engineers in the country, namely Andrew Crawford (head engineer & producer, Hillsong Church, the largest church in AU history, distributed by EMI) and Peter Wallis (then Studio Manager of Hillsong Church). James lived and worked in Sydney refining his skills in the best studios and largest venues Australia has to offer from 2006 through 2010.
In late 2010 James moved back to the NYC area where he is now the Production Manager and Lead Audio Engineer for Hillsong NYC and continues to mix studio releases out of a private suite in NJ. James also spends a good part of his time traveling producing live albums and mixing conferences and tours everywhere.
James has mixed commercial releases that have attained global radio airplay and frequently rank within the top five on iTunes charts for their genres. He has also mixed shows for audiences ranging from groups of 8 to crowds of 80,000, from the smallest label showcase rooms to the largest indoor and outdoor arenas, from the US to Australia and back.
Notably, James engineered Hillsong Church's "Con Todo" in 2009 which went on to win the 2010 Dove Award for Best Spanish Language Album.
